It's been a while and I file my memories under "A Lost Cause." It's a shame, I got no fame, and your New Years brought you more than a few tears. So I'm fallin' and so I call and your Valentine's was less than perfect. So it's your life, but it's my strife and I think you're more than perfect. And I know I got nothing to offer you. And I know you got nothing to give back. Could it be our destinies were never made to match? Could it be you set me free cuz you're not ready yet? So I dream. And in this scene I embrace you and I tell you I love you. You say you miss me and then you kiss me and you touch me. And I'm a big man. But I'm awake, and I'm betrayed, and you're living a million miles away. So I smile and I file my memories under "A Fantasy." Could it be I set you free cuz I'm not ready yet?

She wakes up to find that her boyfriend's motorcycle hit a car and now he's in Critical down at Ocean View. So she steals her Daddy's car and drives on down the shore. He's waiting for her. He's waiting for her, but he can't wait no more. The sun goes down on Jenni but now it's too late to go home. The sun goes down on Jenni. There's an ocean breeze that now chills her to the bone. She waits by the phone just hoping that he'll call and tell her, "It's all a joke!" cuz, you see, he's still alive. Her Daddy knocks and says, "Time to move on, Princess." But he doesn't know that she can't let go. She'll never miss him less. The sun goes down on Jenni and in her nightmare dreams she cries. And in the morning light she knows she can't survive. They were talking about marriage, after high school but before college. How can she go on without him here? The sun goes down on Jenni and in her final hour she waits. And her Daddy's Walther brings her hand to fate. The sun goes down on Jenni. Now she's where the spirits roam. The sun comes up on Jenni. She'll watch the funeral from her new home. Now she's home.

You met me on the corner. You reprimanded me for drinking your last beer. You led me out into the courtyard where we waited all day. I found you in an Irish bar so I bought you another cooler. I told you pretty lies (they're custom-tailored to fit you) until we went back home. And all the things that we did..... The tattoo on your back -- now covered by your shirt -- I ask you what it means. You say, "In Chinese it means 'cycle.' And next to it is 'love.'" I touch you where it meant love, but now you shy away. You were my shining light under the covers. But I'm still under the covers. After all, you want me, I want you. After all, you showed me and I showed you. After all, the darkness hides the truth. After all.... what's the hurry, after all? (I touched you where it meant love)

I found you hiding inside your broken and lonely dreams. Your eyelids convey so much more than you can say. You're nodding in an out of your surreal, conscious stream, too close to the edge you ever could believe. Comin' down, you fall so hard. Your right arm is bound and you're shot to the ground, and now you're flying around but you fall through the clouds. Come on and hear me out. You're alive but we need so much more from you now. They found you passed out on the floor of your baby sister's room. You're too far gone to even burn out off your own spoon. You're going on thirty; your future is now. You had your whole life ahead but now you're lost in the crowd. All of your friends, they say the fun never ends. But who will you turn to because they're all dead? One more step until you fall.

You took your hand in his two years ago that day. You said that you’d be his. You didn’t hesitate. It was July and you felt like you could fly. There was no limit but the sky. He took you to his bed and had his way with you and, like the girls before, he tore your heart in two. It was September. You still remember that there was nothing you could do. And like the ocean tide, back to your room to hide. He’d call you up that night, maybe for one last ride. It was March and the winds were very harsh, but still you let him back inside. They said to stay away. They said he’d kill your soul. You said that they don’t know. You said your heart was whole. It was a year. He’d shed his tears. But in the end he’d break what couldn’t mend. You wanted love so bad but you could never see the man inside. You wanted love so bad but you could never bring yourself to tell him goodbye. And you’ll never know your daughter now. You killed her then you closed the door. You’ll never stay forever. Never more.
